TransAfrika Resources Limited (TransAfrika) is an African resource, exploration and development company with highly prospective exploration projects in Mauritania, Mali, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Senegal.
Mauritania : The company holds six permits covering an area of 742 700ha. The permits grant TransAfrika the right to prospect for iron, gold, base metals and uranium. The Kaouat iron ore project (Kaouat), covering 147 400ha, is currently being explored. To date, an exploration target of 1 billion tonnes of iron ore, containing about 30% iron, which is potentially upgradable to 67%, has been identified.
Drilling on permit 272 shows gold mineralisation associated with anomalous zinc, lead and copper associated with barite and manganiferous gossans.
Mali : The company holds three permits covering 18 000ha adjacent to operating mines and on the highly prospevtive Senegal - Mali Fault Zone. Gold mineralization is known to occur on all the permits.
Rwanda : The company holds two permits covering four areas; 114 500ha are being explored. Some 33 diamond drill holes have been drilled and a SAMREC-compliant inferred resource of 257 000oz of gold has been confirmed. There has the potential to significantly increase the resource along strike and down dip.
DRC : The company holds four permit areas and three options covering 199 070ha. Extensive hard rock and alluvial mining on the Luiko permit. First phase diamond drilling has been completed.
Senegal : The company holds a heavy mineral sands prospect (Saint Louis project) of 312 200ha, contiguous to the Mineral Deposits Limited's Grand Côte Zircon Project. The company also holds a gold prospect of 29 933ha in the east of the country. Geological terrain mapping indicates a favourable setting for gold mineralisation.
TransAfrika is a resources exploration company focused on Africa, in countries which have a history of mining for gold and which have clear mineral rights legislation.
