TransAfrika Resources Limited (TransAfrika) is an African exploration, development and mining company with highly prospective exploration projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Mali, Mauritania, Rwanda and Senegal.
DRC : The company holds four permit areas and three options covering approximately 199 000ha. Extensive hard rock and alluvial mining on newly obtained Luiko permit. Diamond drilling is in progress.
Mali : The company holds five permit areas covering 48 600ha in a known gold province; two permits are currently under exploration.
Mauritania : The company holds six permits covering an area of approximately 742 700ha. The permits grant TransAfrika the right to prospect for gold and base metals. The Kaouat iron ore project (Kaouat) covering some 150 000ha is currently being explored. To date, an estimated 1billion tonnes of iron ore containing about 30% iron, which is potentially upgradable to 67%, has been identified. Strong radiometric readings have been recorded over the group’s uranium projects. Exploration continues.
Rwanda : The company holds two permits holding four areas covering 114 500ha are being explored. Some 33 diamond drill holes have been drilled and a SAMREC compliant resource of 257 000oz of gold has been confirmed. There is potential to significantly increase the resource along strike and down dip.
Senegal : The company holds a heavy mineral sands prospect (Saint Louis project) of 312 000ha contiguous to the Mineral Deposits Limited’s Grand Côte Zircon Project. The company also holds a gold prospect of 30 000ha in the east of the country. Geological terrain mapping indicates a favourable setting for gold mineralisation.
