TransAfrika has two permits in Senegal covering 342 133ha. The gold permit, located near Souroundou on the Mali border, covers approximately 30 000ha. The permit area is located in the Mako greenstone belt, which is part of the Paleoproterozoic Birimian Supergroup of the Kedougou-Kčničba inlier. The lithologies commonly comprise mafic to intermediate volcano sediments, felsites, gabbro-diorites and granitoids. The structural interpretation of the area from mapping and remote sensing has defined structural trends that correspond well to the regional tectonic structures. The second permit covers a highly prospective heavy mineral sands project immediately north of Mineral Development Limited’s 1.3 billion tonne Zircon resource.
TransAfrika has two permits, one for gold and the other for mineral sands. The gold permit is located near Souroundou, on the Mali border. The heavy mineral sands permit is located along the western coastline. The permit areas total some 342 000ha.
