The eastern part of the concession has been prioritised for follow-up. A total of 1 460 soil samples have been analysed, gold anomalies overlie auriferous quartz veins. Grab samples from the quartz veins contain up to 22.7g/t Au.
An IP survey was completed to test the gold in soil anomalies. Strong north-south striking chargeability zones do not always underlie with the soil anomaly. Profiles indicate that the chargeability and resistivity zones dip 40-500 towards the west, and that the soil anomaly can be associated with the weathered zone rather than the structures themselves.
Desktop studies on the Saint Louis heavy sands permit have been completed. Initial results show that the permit has a favourable geological setting and potential to host a world-class deposit. A reconnaissance visit to the permit is currently under way.
TransAfrika has two permits, one for gold and the other for mineral sands. The gold permit is located near Souroundou, on the Mali border. The heavy mineral sands permit is located along the western coastline. The permit areas total some 342 000ha.
